Who we are

IRONBARKTECH, ABN 29 659 123 086, ASIC business name 1-75912446328, based in Joondalup WA, Australia. We are a sole trader. Contact: hello@ironbarktech.com.au.

We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we send commercial email under the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

What we collect, and why

If you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address, and the name of the product page you subscribed from. We use it for one purpose, to send you that newsletter. We also record the date and time, your IP address, your browser user agent, the page you subscribed from, and the exact wording of the notice you were shown. That record exists because the Spam Act puts the burden of proving consent on us, and a claim of consent with no evidence behind it is not worth much to either of us.

If you email us: whatever you put in the email.

If you just read the site: our hosting and CDN providers process standard request logs, including IP address, as part of delivering the page. We publish a machine-readable crawler policy and we record which automated crawlers fetch our public files. That record deliberately stores no IP address at either end.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles of readers.

Consent, and how to withdraw it

Newsletter subscriptions are confirmed by email. Nothing is sent until you click the link in that confirmation, so an address typed by someone else never becomes a subscription.

Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. It keeps working after the issue is sent, and we action it promptly and in any case within five business days, which is the standard the ACMA sets. If it ever fails, email hello@ironbarktech.com.au and we will remove you by hand.

Who else sees it, including overseas

The newsletter runs on beehiiv, a United States company. If you subscribe, your email address and the fields listed above are stored on their systems in the United States. That is an overseas disclosure and we are naming it rather than implying it. By subscribing you agree to that disclosure. We do not sell, rent or share the list with anyone else.

The site is hosted on infrastructure that is not located in Australia. We make no data residency claim anywhere on this site, because the products described here run on providers with no Australian region available at any price, and a sovereignty claim we cannot evidence is worse than none.

How long we keep it

Subscription and consent records are kept for seven years after you unsubscribe, which matches the retention standard we apply across the business and leaves us able to answer a complaint about a message we sent. Request logs are kept for the short period our providers retain them. Emails you send us are kept until they are no longer needed.

Access, correction and complaints

Email hello@ironbarktech.com.au to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. For unwanted commercial email, the ACMA takes complaints at acma.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above, and where the change affects the newsletter we will say so in an issue rather than changing it quietly.
